Moonkind is a journaling app built around a simple principle: your reflections belong to you, and only you.
Nothing, by default. Every journal entry you write — your mood selections, your written reflections, your timestamps — is stored entirely on your own device, using your phone's local storage. This data is never transmitted to us, to any server, or to any third party. We have no backend database of user journal content, because none exists.
During onboarding, you may optionally choose to share your first name and email address if you'd like occasional updates about the app. This is entirely optional, is never required to use any feature of Moonkind, and can be skipped entirely — either field, or both. If you do provide this information, it is used solely to send you occasional product updates, addressed to you by name where provided, and is never sold or shared with third parties for any other purpose.
This information is stored on your device and, if provided, is also sent to Kit (ConvertKit), a third-party email service provider we use to send these updates. You can review Kit's own privacy practices at kit.com/privacy. You can update or remove this information at any time from the "Your Info" section of the app, which will also update it with Kit accordingly.
This section covers moonkind.co, separately from the app.
The waitlist. If you join the waitlist on our website, we keep two things: the email address you enter and the date you signed up. Nothing else — not your name, location, or IP address. It is stored using Cloudflare, the service that receives the sign-up, and is used only to tell you about Moonkind's launch and to send the occasional update. It is never sold or shared for any other purpose. Every email we send will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time by writing to the contact address below.
Visiting the site. Our website uses no cookies, no analytics, and no advertising or tracking tools. Like any website, a few services are involved in delivering it to you, and they handle basic technical information, such as your IP address, as part of doing so:
Because your journal entries live only on your device, uninstalling Moonkind removes that data along with it, unless you have iCloud device backup enabled at the operating system level (a setting controlled by you, through Apple, not through Moonkind).
Moonkind does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or behavioral tracking of any kind — in the app or on our website.
Moonkind is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app introduces optional cloud sync — this page will be updated, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that change.
Questions about this policy, or requests to remove your information, can be sent to moonkindapp@gmail.com.
